We are looking at hiking Mt.Massive in mid-June. If we want to camp at the trail-head, do we need a permit? Does it cost anything?
Will there be any campsites open at all?

There are a mix of pay and free camping areas around the area. I don't personally think there is any reason to pay and share a camp area with lots of other hikers. I don't believe there is camping at the trailhead. I don't think it will be a problem finding someplace to set up a tent.

There is a developed campsite located at the base of Massive you can use for a fee. No permit, first come first served. Plus there are numerous National Forest sites in the area.
