When does avalanche season end?

Looks like that one was a hiker in 1972 in Yosemite CA.

1972 must have been a great snow year. The only August fatality in Colorado occured in that year as well.

Here is a picture I took last year on May 28 in the San Juans. A little hard to see from the photo, but it looked like a fairly big slide. I took that as a warning that just because it hadn't snowed for a while don't take anything for granted.
