I'm disappointed in the lack of torch and pitchfork grabbing in this thread. Come on folks, this is summer. I had higher hopes.

I SMELL BLOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal

Their website calls it the "Maroon Bells 14er "hike"". It is not a hike and that type of language is not very suggestive of the organizer having a great understanding of what the group is getting into. Hopefully the event gets cancelled, if not I hope everyone is safe if it does happen.

The organizer explains in the description that it's more than a hike.

And I'm not sure where the "21" came from, I only see 9 there. Maybe they were tipped off. :wft:

It was 21 at the start of this thread, but I think people are steadily dropping out. Bet a few have read this thread.

Reality is, those that aren't prepared for the difficulty will turn around either during or at the top of the 2,800' of suck.

Yup. And that might actually be a good thing for them, looking at the weather forecast for the hike.
