La Plata standard route

anyone know for sure if the TH will be open tomorrow? 2nd question: which route is better standard vs. south west?

I don't know about the standard route. I climbed the southwest route a couple of weeks ago. It is truly a beautiful climb. My guess is that the only reason it is not the Standard Route is because the road is really really rough. Nothing bout four wheel with high clearance is suggested.

I'm trying to figure out if it's open as well. I called the forest service and got voicemail, no call back yet. "Leadville Ranger District San Isabel National Forest 719 486-7409"

It was still closed when I drove by yesterday.
