Factoring Weather

Post by Zenn »

Just curious:
When I plan to peak, I keep an eye on the weather forecast, naturally. There have been times where the forecast changes significantly within a few hours. Sometimes I'll say f*** it and see what awaits me despite the forecast, and if I'm turned away I'll respect that - I've been blessed more often than not. Other times, especially route depending, I'll bail and hope for another day.
I'm curious how some of you factor this into your plans. If there's a high percent chance of this or that (mainly rain/storms), do you forego your plans or carry on and see what you're met with?
(And to be clear, I'm not talking about seeing the distant, dark, thunderous clouds heading your way and "chancing it." I'm talking before you even head out).
There is no certainty, only opportunity.

Depends on if I'm hung over that morning.
- I didn't say it was your fault. I said I was blaming you.

Also depends on the route - if I'm going to be on a committing exposed ridge, I'll be more likely to back off and wait for better weather.

I tend to stay local on days like tomorrow (at least given the forecast in the Lindsey area). .1 inches dawn-to-noon, .25 inches in the afternoon. Blub... Saturday looks way better.
