Belford/Oxford conditions?

Post by starsstuff »

Anyone have a report this week from Belford/Oxford? Wondering how much snow and ice. Looking at doing the standard Class 2 route in the next several days and before the next storm. Assuming bringing the microspikes and poles.

As of this weekend, N-facing aspects in the Collegiates are holding considerable snow above 12,000' or so, much of it unconsolidated. Given the northerly orientation of the standard route on Belford, I'd expect something similar on the upper portions of it, though the fact that it follows a ridge line may mitigate it to some extent.
