The height of the antenna above ground is entered into the GPS unit when the measurements are taken. Nothing like an old fashioned tape measure to accurately determine that!

Measurement time hasn't been a big contributor to accuracy; the main issue is that the height has to be corrected to a known base station. The distance from peak-to-base station tends to be quite far in the peaks of particular interest. Nevertheless, this just means that the accuracy drops to a "mere" +/- 1' level. There may be some peaks that need even superior resolution (He/She Devil), but so far the system has been sufficient for the 14ers.

Thanks Jim for linking to the previous discussion thread. Those comments were a great starting point for these measurements. I think that we will do Grizzly Peak A this coming Saturday and consider Bross if the weather forecast holds up. It would be a true joy if that slag heap didn't have sufficient prominence...
