Joel (joelmpaula) skied it on May 3 and had breakable crust, but says it's as fat as he's ever seen it. I *may* repeat this one, since the conditions I encountered were less than fat. No guarantees. Hopefully he'll post up some photos for us.

I was up Cronin yesterday and got some photos of that face. You can skin from above the creek crossing/junction. It was a warm night, so I was postholing in snowshoes by early afternoon, but recent cooler weather may have helped. Trip report.

Thanks all! Looking forward to Joel's pics. Seano - out of curiosity, how much of the Baldwin Gulch road was completely snow-free, and any thoughts on how driveable it is with AWD and ~8.5" of clearance?

Lots of snow on the road. There was snow from about 1/4 mile of the 2wd Th. There were about a dozen dry patches between the 2wd th and the creek crossing. You may be able to drive a bit in a large truck. Just don't get stuck.

What joelmpaula said -- you won't get far before hitting snow, and one patch in a sheltered bend looked like it will hang around for awhile. I don't remember any good pullouts before the first snow, so you're better off just parking at the base. There's also a good-sized tree across the road farther up.

Cool, thanks. Did you go both up and down the gully shown in this pic?

I went to the gully behind this one. I think the first gully is the way to go.
