Reading his report, Anton specifically started when it was just light enough to go without lights, even though it seems very dark in the video. Also his bike clearly has lights attached, just not turned on in the video. Maybe he turned the red blinker on later or something?

Oh, I didn't realize this was in August, not more recently. 5AM start in October would have been pretty dark.
