Text Searches in Trip Reports Broken?

Postby KentonB » Fri Oct 12, 2012 10:59 pm

A couple days ago, I was at work and noticed that when searching trip reports for a given mountain, I received the same results no matter what was entered in the "Search for text inside TRs:" field. Tonight I tried it from home (both in Firefox 16 and IE 9) and the same thing happened.

Is anyone else having this problem? Bill, is there a glitch in code somewhere?

Here's a specific example if it's unclear what I'm saying:

1. Go to "Trip Reports".
2. Under the "Peak(s):" field, enter "Mt. Antero".
3. Click the "View Reports" button (about 10 pages of results appear).
4. In the "Search for text inside TRs:" field, type "Raspberry" (I was searching for the Raspberry Gulch approach).
5. Click "View Reports" button again... same result... 10 pages of results and the word "raspberry doesn't appear to be highlighted in any of them.

I know this feature was working about a month ago (last time I tried it).

The code must not be building the correct query when "Peak(s)" and "Search for text inside TRs" are used together. I probably screwed it up when adding the "Other Peak/Place Name" criteria a while back. I'll fix it soon.

Until then, instead of the Peak field you could use "Other Peak/Place Name" (type in Mt. Antero) in combination with "Search for text inside TRs" and it should work. I tried your search and it returned 5 reports.

That seems to work for now. Thanks Bill!

And I just fixed the original problem, too.
