Twin Sisters?

Post by Michael York »

Has anyone been up the Sisters by Long's recently? I'm thinking that would make a great hike tomorrow and just wondered about snow conditions on the trail... snowshoes? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't been up Twin Sisters since December, but have been up it a lot in the winter over the years. From my experience you are not likely to need snowshoes as it gets hiked enough to keep the snow packed down, unless you are there right after a big storm. You may want some traction in few places though.

Logan,

When conditions on Twin Sisters require snowshoes, trailhead access will be extremely problematic.

I agree that traction may be necessary.

Thanks, I was thinking it would probably be legit, but thought I'd see if anyone thought otherwise. I'll post up tomorrow afternoon.

We were just up there yesterday. Though I do believe it is a commonly hiked winter trail, there weren't really tracks to speak of for us. So yes, we did use snowshoes. But we did have to turn around not too far up the mountain as my hiking partner had unknowingly broken his toe that morning and it was really starting to get to him. So I'm not sure what the conditions are on top.
