Hikes in or near Vail

Post by sad2 »

Any recommendations on nice hikes in Vail?

Preferably below 12,000 feet and no more than 10-12 miles RT.

Some research I've done so far:

1. Booth Lake
2. Lost Lake

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Will any of these hikes be impacted by the shutdown?

Either Gore Lake or Deluge Lake in the Gore Range are stunning. They might be getting towards your mileage limit though.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I second the recommendation on Gore Lake and Deluge Lake. I believe it's something like a 12 mile round trip to Gore Lake and then just a little farther if you wanna get to Snow Lake. Right now with the fall foliage the hike up into Gore Lake is gorgeous and it's a pretty moderate hike, nothing difficult.

Even a shorter hike up to Booth Falls would be gorgeous. Then, if you continue towards the lake, it just gets more beautiful every step.
