Max Elevation Gain
Hi all,
Im working on a goal starting next week, I would like to hike around 5-10k worth of elevation gain per week. Ive been hitting Mt Morrison about 3 times a week because of the almost 2000' gain over 1.8miles however its getting old. What are some of your favorite steep grade hikes in the Denver metro area? Looking for some that gain 1750 or more over around 5 miles RT max you know some good leg burning hikes that you use for 14er training.
Thanks!

Its 7.5 miles but Goat Mountain up Waterton Canyon is a nice leg burner.

It's a very fun hike but the false summits can be annoying your first time up there.

Mt. Falcon from the East Trailhead can get you close to 2,000'.

Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end.'" - Edward Whymper

Yeah, that's a great one.awilbur77 wrote:Fern canyon up to Bear Peak is a favorite of mine
S. Boulder Peak from the South Mesa TH is about 3,000' of gain in a little over 8 miles RT. The steep part of the trail is really rocky and rough, though.

Re: Max Elevation Gain
Shadow Canyon up South Boulder Peak - 6.7 RT miles and 2,904ft net. You can stop at the saddle between South Boulder Peak and Bear for less mileage and gain.

The Incline out of Manitou Springs. Approximately 2,000 vertical feet in one mile. I like to return to the trailhead via the Barr Trail for a total of about 3 miles round trip.
