Hikes near Cotopaxi/Texas Creek

Post by bigredmachine »

I'm going to be down there next weekend and was looking for some suggestions...

criteria:
6 to 12 roundtrip miles (more is fine also)
elevation gain would be nice, but not necessary
anything with some class 3 would be great
I wont have any snow gear, so I'd like to minimize snow
something not more than 30-45 minutes (or within an hour of Texas Creek) off of HW 50 or HW 69 preferably.

I would really like to climb a mountain that has some views at top if possible, but I know with trying to avoid snow that may be a bit of a challenge.

Thanks in advance
Corey

"Hindman Dome" is a wonderful hike from Texas Creek. Simply hike east on the railroad tracks from Texas Creek Road until you reach Hindman Gulch. Then follow the impressive gulch to the base of the Dome. Climb wonderful class 3 or 4 to your hearts content with massive views on top!
