Where is this Colorado Location?

Post by yorksman »

I was watching a Vail commercial and came across this scene in it and I just can't figure out where near Vail this is? Do you know which peaks these are?

Piney Lake? I haven't been up there in a few years, but it makes sense because of the relatively easy access to the water's edge. Google Earth sort of shows a similar looking ridgeline, too.

That is from the west end of Gore Lake looking northeast to "Mt. Silverthorne" and "East Thorne" (rough looking peak), Pt 12,904' (which I believe is also known as "Hail Peak" locally?) on the left. gore galore would know for sure.. I took a similar picture about 8 years ago from there.

2nd time in as many days that the 11th Commandment has been violated.

Thou shall not talk about the Gores.
I am unable to walk away from the mountain without climbing it. An unclimbed mountain tugs at my consciousness with the eternal weight of time itself. Until I've pressed my face into it's alpine winds, hugged it's ancient granite walls, and put it's weathered summit beneath my heal I'm unable to resist it's attraction.Knowing nature gives the mountain more time than she gives us adds urgency to the obsession. As has been said before; the mountain doesn't care.

It can wait forever. I cannot.

Thanks I have been many areas into the Gores but not this one, I have been close just on the other side at Deluge Lake.

I mean, that's Bierstadt, from the south.
