Re: Flattop Mountain/Hallett Peak Question
That's a cool GPS track. I might have to actually get a GPS one of these decades.....

I used the Gaia GPS app on my Iphone. It only cost $20 so, it was pretty affordable and worked well on the mountain. Burned about 40% of my battery in 7 hours, but I was taking pictures with my phone as well.

Re: Flattop Mountain/Hallett Peak Question
I had to chuckle. I've had this same problem on Flattop. Ordinarily it's a don't care as in the winter you make your own trail but we were trying to find the packed trail under the huge new snow. Got a great workout though!AlexeyD wrote:That said, actually getting through the below-treeline portion of the trail can be a real challenge after a heavy snowfall. I've had the frustrating experience of having to abandon a winter Flattop attempt after failing miserably to find the trail, and wallowing aimlessly through many feet of unconsolidated snow.

Re: Flattop Mountain/Hallett Peak Question
Thanks for posting your GPX link. I'm headed up there tomorrow for a ski tour and will be using it as a guide.
