When I did it back in 2010 or so, I walked up Old Stage Road to the Antenna Farm Road and then bushwhacked to the summit. It wasn't too bad and even though a few cars of workers drove by me, they didn't seem to care that I was on the road. I think there is a proper summit trail being built right now from Cheyenne Mountain State Park which would be a much better (and fully legal) option when it is completed.

Re: Cheyenne Mountain
Yeah, that trail is slowly getting into place. I'm quoted in that article saying "a couple hundred thousand dollars" is needed to finish the trail. That was off-the-cuff, but probably not too far from reality. In any case, there is a crew from RMFI up there this week working on it, and good progress is being made on easements across the private property. VOC was up there again last month and we knocked out another 1500 linear feet or so of tough trail building with a lot of switchbacks. Foot by foot it is getting done. When will it be finished? I really don't know. There is a lot left to be done.jsdratm wrote:I think there is a proper summit trail being built right now from Cheyenne Mountain State Park which would be a much better (and fully legal) option when it is completed.

After almost 20 years of living at the base of the mountain, Carol and I "conquered" the true summit in 2009. Haven't been back.
