The skiers on this site get about as desperate in October/November as the "Are there any dry 14ers yet?" threads in May...

The people looking for dry 14ers are generally not ski mountaineers, there the ones that generally just hike mountains. Generally speaking, most of the ski mountaineers on this site consider late march\early april to be the start of the ski season. Generally, this is considered a generalization.

I sure wouldn't try skiing anything yet, though I doubt you'd find anything with enough snow to try. I remember the one year that I went out for a November descent of a 12'er... the snow looked good, and skinned fine on the way up. It was like skiing a rockslide the whole way down, as my downhill weight punched right through the bottom of the thin snow cover. I'll wait for decent accumulation before considering skiing going forward!

It depends how you define skiing.
For my personal list, I count a mountain skied if I make at least one turn on snow.
Doesn't matter if I have skis on or not. Boot skiing is a lost art.
If you are trying to beef up your trapezoids, you could carry rock skis up and find somewhere to make a turn.
