Re: Capitol Peak Overdue Climber: Have you seen?
Sad to read this. Stereo311 and I hiked to the summit on Sunday 8-3-14. When I got back to town I saw this thread on the site: http://www.14ers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44321" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (about a backpack left on the mountain and hard to get to)
Now I wonder if it is related? Should this info be passed on to SAR?
Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I'm sorry to learn of this news but hoping for the best. You guys are some of the best in the business.
Is there any indication in the text and the photo whether the climber was ascending or descending from K2 at that time?MountainRescue Aspen wrote:Sent a text with photo from K2 at approx 1:00 on Saturday.

Dangit.
Sorry to see this.
I haven't been to Capitol--why would his body be at Mt. Daly? Could a fall end you up there?
RIP brother...

I think maybe that's a reporting error. If you look at the Moon Lakes, on Google, Mount Daly appears more prominent than Cap.steelfrog wrote:Dangit.

Sobering reminder of the risks. I can't imagine what his family is going through.

Re: Capitol Peak Overdue Climber: Have you seen?
No, Capitol shares a saddle with Daly but they are quite some distance apart. It was mentioned that he sent a text from K2 so he very well may have summited Capitol and then on his return trip decided for a summit of Daly. My condolences to his family.steelfrog wrote:Dangit.
