Re: Hikers missing on La Plata Peak
I've been turned around in the woods below the northwest ridge in winter before. Not a place I would want to be trying to navigate in the dark. Hoping for the best outcome!
Re: Hikers missing on La Plata Peak
Wow. Just did La Plata a few weeks ago and although we made it down to the standard valley before dark, we were relying on GPS for routefinding. Some of that terrain in the trees gets really confusing if there isn't a clear, broken trail. Hoping for the best.

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

Re: Hikers missing on La Plata Peak
It's always great to get this kind of news concerning these types of situations. Great to hear!
Seems like the times that I need a mountain the most are the times that I can not get to them.

Re: Hikers missing on La Plata Peak
Very great news! We were very very excited to see them walking! Lots of take home lessons to be learned for sure. It doesn't matter how much experience you have, or what you think you know, the mountain always has the final say! Very glad they are able to be home safe!
