News on the Kelso fall

Post by 1quick1 »

Alpine Rescue Team posted on FB they did a rescue yesterday on Kelso Ridge. Any news as I didn't see a thread or I probably did and I'm going to get verbily berated by the mountain/forum elite

they flew over grizzly gulch around 7:15pm. 2 runs heading back ti i70 and then the bird hoovered up and down kelso ridge. seemed the action was below the knife edge. bird was out much later that I thought it would be, past what I would consider dusk. all were lucky with wonderful weather.

I too am curious what happened and how the rescue went.

Here's the images. The first one looks like the pitch to the summit after the knife edge and white wall. (replaced with URL's as they apparently exceed the size limit even though they are hosted outside.

These others are what were with the post.

That has got to be one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen, given the circumstances...

Would love to have permission to share this... I hope that the rescue went well and that all are OK.... I'll read more since I know so little about this...

I saw a helicopter search for 2 days once on a mountain traverse adjacent to Snowmass and it was really disturbing to me (literally, bad sleep, souls coming to me at night). I know some people on this forum lost some friends on that one...

We all take such risks on every ascent of a mountain to do what we love so much... Then again, people die in their sleep at night with absolutely no warning and without ever having ventured out into the wonderful landscape of this planet... Seems we all have our place in the world, which sometimes ends a bit short... So sad for those left behind... Perhaps a brand new journey for those that move on?

At any rate, this photo captured a beautiful spirit of the wild terrain that we embrace so frequently. Thank you for sharing...

Prayers and blessings to those involved.

Wow, those pictures are impressive. Hope all are ok. Kelso ridge is great fun, but there are places where a fall can be devastating.
Century Bound, eventually.
