Buffalo Peaks Wilderness conditions?
I've been looking at some ideas for a little backpacking this weekend and was looking into a loop in the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness off the Fairplay side of Weston Pass. I was wondering if anyone knows what the snow situation is there at this time? From my research it isn't that high but I thought I'd see if anyone had any more solid current beta. We're hoping to find a loop not more than a few hours from Denver where we could go without snow gear. Thanks in advance!

If you want actual data - the Rough and Tumble snotel site was still reporting snow at the station as of yesterday. I would infer from that data that you will run into significant snow on loops in that area.

That's a pretty interesting site, thanks for that info. Bummer, was hoping that loop would be low enough and in a warm enough area to pull off a dry backpack with the better half. Will have to look a little lower I guess, thanks!!SkaredShtles wrote:If you want actual data - the Rough and Tumble snotel site was still reporting snow at the station as of yesterday. I might go scope out some earlier sections of the CO Trail like section 4 - 6 and see if something there would work.

If you want the best opportunity for snow free then look no further than LCW. Check out this thread here http://www.14ers.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 58#p602758" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yup - Lost Creek is the area you will want to currently look at...AlexMack wrote:That's a pretty interesting site, thanks for that info.
