This was taken on the Denny Creek trail while climbing Mt. Yale on Sunday (9/29)! It was just starting to really turn, great hike.

Drove a big loop around the state September 28-29.

US 550 between Silverton and Ouray: as the photos in a previous post showed, probably around 60 % of peak. This weekend should be ideal, weather permitting.

McClure Pass: still pretty green on both sides, the north side is maybe 40-50 %, the south side needs at least a week or two before peak.

Maroon Bells: A bit superfluous, since it looks like one can't really get there easily now. But it's a slow fall in general, I'd estimate that it was probably 50 % on Sunday in the immediate area of the lake, a mix further down the hill.

Twin Lakes: Looking pretty good, probably 70 % or so.

Regardless, the colors are pretty, can't wait to get back there.

Busy this weekend, but may make another trip around Columbus Day, I'll plan on having a look at Kebler and Dallas Divide / Telluride, although it might be past peak by then.

I hiked up to Booth Lake today, (located just north of East Vail) and I would say that the Aspens were about 70% peak. In some areas the were very yellow and in patches nearby they were still very green. Beautiful day today and nice lake.

I want to do a hike Saturday where there are lots of aspens/colorful leaves but one key thing... I live in Denver and do NOT want to take 70 (darn tunnel traffic). Any suggestions of anything off of 285, etc?

Take 70 to Georgetown. Head south on guenella pass road. Drive over pass to other side. At grant take 285 north to Denver. You'll avoid the crazy mess returning to Denver. Beautiful drive right now.

I drove by Vail today, it was just about at peak, very nice. Here is a quick shot I snapped by the side of the road (and the camera was level).

Woke up to several inches of snow in Frisco today.
I took these this morning on the stretch of 70 from Frisco to Copper.
