I am unable to walk away from the mountain without climbing it. An unclimbed mountain tugs at my consciousness with the eternal weight of time itself. Until I've pressed my face into it's alpine winds, hugged it's ancient granite walls, and put it's weathered summit beneath my heal I'm unable to resist it's attraction.Knowing nature gives the mountain more time than she gives us adds urgency to the obsession. As has been said before; the mountain doesn't care.
It can wait forever. I cannot.

Re: night sky pictures
So I am just starting to mess around with some astrophotography, and took a few pics of the super moon the other week. Man, I have never had to mess with the camera's settings so much in my life before!

Re: night sky pictures
I missed the good evening light on these rock formations near Silver Jack Reservoir on Saturday, so I made myself get up in the middle of the night to shoot them by moonlight.

Re: night sky pictures
I've been wanting to shoot this scene of Grays and Torreys under moonlight for a couple years now and I finally made it happen this past weekend. I camped in the basin near the saddle between Torreys and Kelso on Saturday night and made my way up to the ridge after dark. On the way up I got into a stare down with a creepy pair of eyes that I'm guessing was a fox. It was a great night.

Re: night sky pictures
Watching the Perseids meteor shower on Guanella pass this past summer. Unfortunately, no meteors were caught on film, but I learned a lot about night shooting and will give it another go as soon as I can.
