Re: night sky pictures
Wow. I've been on that trail many times in the daylight. Now I've got reason to hike it in the night.

Re: night sky pictures
A couple photos from the weekend of March 14th
This is a shot of Mount Aetna from Monarch Pass. It was the first time I've tried a really long single exposure (over 20 minutes) star trail photo. I assumed the image would have too much noise because of the long exposure, but the quality ended up being pretty good; I just had to spot remove quite a few hot pixels.
Here's a shot of Orion over Mount Priceton that I took earlier that night.

This isn't as good as most of the others.
But thought it was bit different. Taken with a simple point & shoot Kodak.

I am an aspiring [night] photographer and know nothing about it other than you need a long exposure. So after doing some homework on how to photograph the Northern Lights, this is the best shot I got (still a bit grainy) - taken last week:

Re: night sky pictures
awesome pictures! One of my goals is to have a camera with a high enough aperture to take night stills of the milky way. So incredible.
