I have a canon powershot elph with 10 mps...can I print pics at 8x12 or 18x24 or will they look grainy? Also, what paper do you recommend?

Are you having them printed professionally or are you using your home printer? I suspect 8x12 will print well but 18x24 likely won't look good.

Ditto the above. I've gone to about 12x18 from a 10MP P&S camera, but of course it depends on viewing distance to the print. At 12x18 a good file could be scrutinized at about arm's length, but any larger and it starts to fall apart unless you step back.

Not if you're talking about a point-and-shoot camera, the difference in quality will likely be marginal. Now a 16MP DSLR is a different story, you would surely notice a difference there.

Get them printed and find out how you like them. I had a couple of pics printed in 8x10 professionally several years back from a 6 mp camera and they turned out great.

The general rule on printing I read somewhere is ideally you would have 300 pixels per inch for a high quality print (so 8 by 12 would have 2400 by 3600 pixels per side), but 200 will look acceptable. I'd say 8 by 12 would look fine, 18 by 24 might be pushing it a bit. I've printed at 12 X 18 from a 10 MP camera and it looked fine.

It really depends on the quality of the camera. Older DSLRS, with say 10-12 MP, can print large posters without problem because the sensor is larger and has better noise characteristics then the smaller sensors used on P&S cameras. I've printed 16x20 with an older P&S that had really good image quality when on it's lowest ISO settings, but it doesn't stand up to close scrutiny. Most P&S will not print well above 8x10 though except in very bright light (i.e. at lowest ISO, and even that is not a given).

You almost certainly can't tell the difference between 200 DPI and 300 DPI. Don't waste your money on higher DPI counts.

For 8x10 images, are there places in Denver you'd recommend for printing onto good photographic paper?ie. Kodak Endura Professional Paper
