Wildflowers? Post em Up!

Post by adkinsadam1 »

It's that time of year again, and seeing as how I've seen no threads yet, I am starting one up! Should be about peak of wildflower season in the central and northern mountains, and should be peaking in the San Juans by the weekend. I am hitting up Ice Lake Basin this weekend near Silverton. Keeping my fingers crossed!

A few weeks ago Carol & I hiked Bear Creek, and I made up this album of the flowers we saw that day.

From lower Ice Lake Basin on July 10. On my one and only previous trip up there, several years ago, I saw more flowers than this year, think I was just a bit early this year.

My trip to Telluride this 4th of July didn't nearly have as many flowers blooming as last year. There was a lot more snow than last year. So the peak flower time is still ahead of us. Here is one good shot I got this year.

They were really popping, while crossing the Ten Mile Range on the Colorado Trail last week.

If you like sunflowers - take a walk on Black Powder Pass ASAP! Just a sea of yellow up there now
