hanging skis

Post by davebks »

hi, I ask this knowing that I could make something, if I had the time. I have two kids under two so being really creative isn't in the cards right now.
What do you do to hang your skis in the garage? Any good racks out there these days?
A board with rods would do the trick, but again, no time.

Thanks for any recommendations!!

I've used pegs through an old ski and hang them vertically, but I feel that warps the ski and the bindings always unlock from one another and splits the skis apart. If you have wood beams above your garage or something, I found using those bike hooks (that wrap around the beam - not the screw ins) work well, but require a short step ladder to get to.

I believe you can get horizontal ski racks for like 50$ if you just don't have the time to make something on your own. Or 20$ on Amazon

Note: I did not build this. It was here when we bought the house. I did move it to the other side of the garage when we first moved and reinforced it but the original idea wasn't mine. It's pretty basic and wouldn't take long to do from scratch.

I am right there with you with the young kid thing. I bought Monkey Bars for six pairs. It took me 15 min to install and works great.

Monkey bars = bueno. I've also bought individual Stanley ski racks for about $12 each at Home Depot and Ace.

I've got one of these in the 4 pair rack. A bit on the pricey side, but really high quality, well built and great for hanging modern rockered skis without warping.

is there an issue with not putting skis in a rack? just setting them on the floor?

Wouldn't it be better to store them vertically or on their side rather than flat with the bottom one sagging and top one flattening?
