LCW Gathering III - February 9-10

Postby Brian Thomas » Mon Dec 17, 2012 6:30 pm

Hello calendar winter people,

After much deliberation, the Lost Creek Wilderness Annual Winter Gathering Committee (Derek and myself) have determined that the 2013 LCW Gathering III shall be at Lake Park Peak 11,403' with an overnight pack in to either Hankins Pass or Lake Park.

Last year was a resounding turnout of ~20 daytrippers for Bison Peak, but considering this weekend will be Derek's birthday, we will be celebrating with a high camp in the LCW. Because sleeping outside in February is *fun* or so I'm told.

More logistics and itinerary to follow...

Woohoo!

To those interested in hiking but not overnighting, this peak is doable as a dayhike as well. (Especially with a nice trench from the overnighters. :) ) Also, for those looking for more than one peak, Tarryall Peak is also in the area, and is a very interesting peak.

For overnighters, camp location will probably be decided officially once conditions are known. If the first 2 LCW gatherings are any indication, snow shoes will be required, but should be a damn good time.

Very tempting! Never been out there before. Overdue on one of these gatherings.

Don't care much about calendar winter but I'd love to go down there. I'll try and make this one!

I would be interested in this outing to take a shot
at unranked 11er the Catamount, although it would be
interesting with snow. Tarryall and Lake Park are cool
peaks!
