Boulder Happy Hour Feb 22nd: Stout Month Edition

Postby crossfitter » Mon Feb 04, 2013 2:35 pm

WHAT: Boulder 14ers Happy Hour: Special Stout month edition
WHEN: 7:00-11:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22
WHERE: Southern Sun 627 South Broadway, Boulder, CO 80305

PRE-PARTY: Climbing at the Boulder Rock Club. 5:00-7:00. Any BRC member (for example, me) can get first-timers in FOR FREE

For those of you who have been living under a rock, it is now stout month at The Sun. That means delicious, February-only stouts such as:

Chocolate Milk Stout (8.5% ABV, 1 pt)
Chocolate Dip Stout (6.9% ABV, 1 pt)

And literally about a dozen other quality brews. For example:

Nitro 48 Smooth Chai Stout
Nitro Coconut Cream Stout
Nitro Korova Cream Stout
Oatimus Prime Imperial Oatmeal Stout
Nihilist Russian Imperial Stout
Megatron American Imperial Stout
Girl Scout Stout
Thunderhead Stout
Dropkick American Stout
Norwegian Wheat Stout
Great Divide Belgian Yeti Stout
New Belgium Imperial Coffee Chocolate Stout
Blackberry Wheat
Saison D’Tesh
FYIPA
Annapurna Amber
Colorado Kind Ale
XXX American Pale Ale
Java Porter
Illusion Dweller English IPA

The point is, Stout Month is pretty much the only thing to look forward to between September and May, so you should come.

- A mountain is not a checkbox to be ticked
- Alpinism and mountaineering are not restricted to 14,000 foot mountains
- Judgment and experience are the two most important pieces of gear you own
- Being honest to yourself and others about your abilities is a characteristic of experienced climbers
- Courage cannot be bought at REI or carried with you in your rucksack

Sounds like anyone who likes to ski isn't welcome.

I use it to drink my "why is it still cold?" sorrows away, you can use it to drink your "where did all the snow go?" sorrows away. Win-Win!

How much is the fee for non-Boulder County residents to attend?

No charge, but if you find your wallet aflutter, you could always donate to the Mapleton Elk's Boulder Memorial Statue Fund (I wish I was making this up)

I might be tempted to make a drive for climbing at BRC as well as for trying Nitro Korova Cream Stout and Nihilist Russian Imperial Stout. Korova means "cow" in Russian, and it is not every day that I see "Nihilist" and "Imperial" in the same tag line. It may be time to investigate...

p.s. Skiing is still the best thing between September and May :)

You used hardcore and snowflake chasing in the same sentence.
