They plowed the road past the closure gate last Sat. The road to the upper TH had variable snow depths, but may have melted out some more. The actual trail needed snowshoes in the trees up to the first switchback up the ridge. Then the snow is highly variable, and we went from walking on rocks to postholing to our hips. I brought my skis and had *fun* putting them on and off. The upper ridge is windblasted and has ridges of deep snow and rocks till you get on top of it. Then there is little snow until you start up the second part of the ridge. We turned around here, as the wind was intense, and that was the best skiable area.
I wonder if our plowed trail is still there. I meant to put up photos already, once I have them accessible I can post them.
