Kiowa/Arikaree Peaks

Post by Neil »

I just read through the following thread on Kiowa and Arikaree Peaks: http://www.14ers.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 68&start=0

Fascinating stuff! Does anyone know whether the City of Boulder has budged on opening Kiowa and Arikaree Peaks, such as allowing one or two climbing days per year or permitting CMC groups to ascend these peaks? Boulder's policy of keeping these mountains closed is the epitome of stupidity and bureaucratic nonesense in my book, especially considering the amount of recreation that occurs elsewhere in this and other watersheds that has MUCH more impact than a few mountaineers.

I probably have a much lengthier rant in me, but want to save some for later. Thanks for any info!

From what I've understood of the situation it's been that way for a very long time and there's little to no chance in hell of them changing their position. I have a feeling you might be waiting a while if you wait for them to ever open up for legal ascents.
