A buddy and I are planning a trip into the Gore Range, and one of the peaks we're interested in is informally known as "Gore Thumb." It's a 5th class peak, but my internet and book research has turned up nothing regarding climbing beta for Gore Thumb. Yes, that unknown is part of the adventure but it's a real slog back in there and I'd prefer to avoid carrying a rope/rack/harness if I can (I'm not the most enthusiastic backpacker on the planet...). All I've seen is a rating of 5.0 but I'm suspect of that. Anyone have any beta on the climb, e.g. rating, exposure, etc? Thanks,
-Tom

Re: Gore Thumb Beta?
See if you can find this book: "Mountaineering in the Gore Range, a record of explorations, climbs, routes, and names" by Joseph D Kramarsic. You may be able to write him and see if the information you are looking for is in this book. You may try also asking Gerry Roach. Theron Welch may be of some assistance as well.
