Mt Meeker - Knife Edge Crossing
Hello everyone,
I am thinking about doing meeker via Iron Gates this summer and I had a question about the knife edge. I've seen plenty of video of the crossing however I cant seem to find any info on getting on and off the knife edge itself. I would hate to be on the edge and not know where to go once I hit the other side. Can someone throw a red line on a picture or something for us haha. I know this may sound stupid but I like to over plan stuff.
Here is a random shot I found, Can someone just take a minute in paint and help me out Thanks everyone!

Memory is too fuzzy to be able to draw an exact red line, I stayed to the north (right for you).
It widens up pretty nicely after the knife edge.

Re: Mt Meeker - Knife Edge Crossing
It's not a puzzle getting to the knife edge and it's not that difficult to figure out how to get on and off it.

I wasn't sure if it was something easy to figure out once you got across or if it was important to stay one side or not. Like I said Ive seen tons of crossing but nothing on getting on and off the edge itself.d_baker wrote:It's not a puzzle getting to the knife edge and it's not that difficult to figure out how to get on and off it.

Re: Mt Meeker - Knife Edge Crossing
IIRC it was something along the lines of "oh hey, this must be the knife edge that I'm on now" and "oh hey, this must be the end of the knife edge and I go that way" (to the right I believe).
Still Here
been scared and battered. My hopes the wind done scattered. Snow has friz me, Sun has baked me,
Looks like between 'em they done Tried to make me
Stop laughin', stop lovin', stop livin'-- But I don't care! I'm still here!

From what I remember, it was a bit awkward getting onto it. Once on, it's all gravy. Like 12ersrule said, I also stayed north (right). Exposure is pretty good!!

Knife edge generally implies extremely easy route finding. You're over analyzing this I think, you can't get it all on the internet...go climb the peak!!
You can touch the void, just don't fall into it.
I fly a starship across the universe divide....and when I reach the other side...I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can. Perhaps I may become a Mountain Man again.

It's very intuitive and there are plenty of cracks below the knife edge on the north side. Once you are there and see it in person it is very obvious.
Have a blast and put up a trip report!

You have no idea!! hahaI Man wrote:You're over analyzing this I think
I guess my concern is getting on and off it correctly, I don't want to start climbing off it and end up where I shouldn't be. This will be my 1st really exposed route so I want to make sure I have everything straight in my head before Im up there.
