James Peak conditions
I'm looking to hike James Peak from St.Mary's on Tuesday. From Denver, it looks like there's still quite a bit of snow up high. Anyone been up there recently? If it's still a posthole nightmare, I'll try to do something drier.

Re: James Peak conditions
There's definitely still a lot of snow in the Front Range, but if you get an early start the snow should be nice and firm for you. I climbed Grays and Torreys yesterday, and while I did posthole a few times, it wasn't so bad as to be a problem.

Climbed it yesterday. Very little post holing, plenty of packed snow. Take your microspikes and poles and enjoy!

Main trail is clear for the most part. A few snow banks that you can hike around with modest effort if you don't want to plow through. Lots of older folks and small children managed to get to Lake on Saturday.
