Wild Basin/Mt. Alice Conditions

Post by clemsonmtneer »

Just curious if anyone has been up in this area within the past week or so. Wondering if this hike is possible in trail runners yet, or if there is still too much snow? Have a feeling I know the answer, but doesn't hurt to check.

Last Sunday we showed up at the ranger station around 2 PM in trail runners, and asked the ranger about conditions up to Thunder Lake (a bit optimistic); he did not seem phased by our appearance or question, and said that while there's a bit of snow closer to the lake, we should be able to get by. Didn't actually end up going there (went back up and over the Finch Lake loop trail instead), but at least based on word of mouth it seems OK.
