Taos Weather

Post by mountainjam »

I was planning on heading to Taos this weekend to hike Wheeler but the weather forecast for the ski valley is not looking too promising. Just curious if there is anyone in Taos or northern NM that could chime in about current weather conditions or any type of daily weather patterns that have been occurring? Any info/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Its pretty similar to Colorado...early start. We have had rain almost every day starting at around 3pm. One good thing about Wheeler is you can bail out down the Williams Lake trail pretty fast if needed, although I would not want to be on the ridge between Old Mike and Wheeler in weather.
The summit is a source of power. The long view gives one knowledge and time to prepare. The summit, by virtue of the dizzying exposure, leaves one vulnerable. A bit of confidence and a dash of humility is all we get for our work. Yet to share these moments with friends is to be human. C. Anker
