Any reason not to do this route? Will it be easy to cross Beaver Creek?
How's the road to the 2WD Trailhead (Beaver Creek TH)?
Anyone been up there lately?

Re: Mount Silverheels - South Ridge
I was up there last weekend. The road is fine for a passenger car all the way up to the creek crossing. I drove through it but I doubt you'll have any issues crossing on foot.
I haven't climbed Silverheels yet but I plan to by this route.
Enjoy!

Re: Mount Silverheels - South Ridge
I haven't been up there since last year, but the road is not appropriate for a passenger car once past the creek, IMO. You might catch the creek low, but there are some water filled ruts that can strand you and some areas above there that that are marginal. I'd hoof it in from the creek if I were you.
It is a very nice mellow hike and there are some great bristlecone pines on the lower part of the ridge. Have fun...

Thanks Corndiggs and highpilgrim. My plan is to park @ Beaver Creek TH. A mellow scenic outing is on our list. Thanks for the reminder about the mighty Bristlecone Pines.
