13er Content

Post by BillMiddlebrook »

I'm moving the 13ers.com content to a section on 14ers.com.

Doing this reduces the amount of work involved in maintaining two sites, plus the 13er content can take advantage of the existing 14ers.com mobile-interface. This isn't really a big deal since much of the 13er content is already linked into 14ers.com - checklists, trip reports, condition reports, trailheads, etc.

Progress. Well, for me it is. :)

Since I still have about 500 13ers.com stickers, we should still use them up! The 13ers.com domain will still work, it will just forward to the 13ers section on 14ers.com.

Since 14ers are all over 13,000 feet, shouldn't 14ers.com just redirect to the appropriate subsection of 13ers.com instead?

Of course then once 12ers.com comes into play it all has to be redone.

I just tried to order 10 stickers.
Anything to do with PayPal and my card is not accepted.
Any other way to deal with this?
I would love some stickers.

Update:

I've deactivated 13ers.com and forwarded that domain to 14ers where I've created a "13ers" menu. I have a few more things to wrap up in the next day or two so users can add/update 13er route descriptions but everything else is out there.

A few people have asked about the future of the 13ers.com domain name... I'll be holding onto 13ers.com in case I decide to use it in the future AND because I've put a lot of time and $ into making 13ers.com a Registered Trademark.

Bill, do you plan to make a 13er Routes tab like you have for the 14ers? I know you had a bunch of routes you've been putting up in the last year or two, and I think it would be a quick useful tool for those searching for the 13er routes.
Good work as usual!

The 13er routes are links on the individual 13er peaks pages and they can also be accessed by clicking the hiker icon on 13er range pages.

You're right, it should be easier. Instead of that little hiker icon, maybe I'll use route list drop-downs on the 13er range pages so routes can be accessed faster, without having to go to the peak page.

Thanks!

Bill,

I was just curious if the section of the recently updated routes will still be accessible? It was nice to go on and see new routes that you had added or that others had added to get some ideas of new routes or mountains to climb!

Thanks for all you do to keep us Rocky Mountain High!

No more random 360 panos when going to the 13ers section? I loved how it used to stretch the complete width of the page, unlike how the 14er panos do.
