Spread Eagle/Lakes of the Clouds in winter

Post by jimwei »

I'm thinking about heading there either Saturday or Sunday this weekend. Has anyone done them recently? Any avalanche danger?

Thanks!

It's not fun hitting Spread Eagle in winter- deep powder in the trees for a couple thousand vertical-the ridge is very broad down low. No avy danger to hit spread eagle from the east, but I don't see making the whole cirque in one day with snow. Haven't been to that area this fall, but plenty of snow in the trees further south at Herard Medano 11/8.
I have phenomenal route-finding abilities. Specifically, I have an uncanny knack for selecting the path of most resistance.
