Pacific west ridge

Post by AyeYo »

First off, beta... any meaningful snow this week or right now?

What's the difficulty level of this ridge? Don't just say class 3. I'd like specifics on rock quality, rock fall, route finding, and exposure. Pictures would be even better if anyone has good ones.

While I can't speak directly to the route on the west ridge, I can give you conditions about the Mayflower gulch. I hiked Drift peak on Wednesday and it was mostly dry. I glanced at my photos and they show Atlantic's west ridge is dry as well.
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.

i have a trip report on the west ridge of pacific with some photos. From what i remember its class 3, with some loose rock in sections but overall not too bad. Theres definitely some exposure near the top though. You may find some snow/ice in the notch.
