So, I received my copy of James Dziezynski's newly-released 2nd Edition of Best Summit Hikes in Colorado and of course I have not yet road-tested it, but I did look at some of the routes we've already done and the descriptions and maps seem very accurate. I highly recommend this book!

I never saw the first edition, but this one is terrific

I have the 1st ed. and like it - it's a great addition to my library. Gives me ideas, provides solid & accurate info. Also use it to augment info from other books/sources.
Definitely recommended!
You've gotten me curious enough that I'm going to check out the 2nd ed.!

OK James. I have your 1st addition, so tell us about the 2nd. (If your aloud to do that over the web-site) I read in that book all the time. I've done a few of the hikes in it. Definetly recommend it... LOL, It also doesn't weight as much as Roache's book does. That things heavy.

I usually copy pages I'm goign to use on a hike and fold them up. I realize this probably is a per se violation of the Lanham Act, but oh well...

I asked him a little about it the other day and he had this to say:

Thanks! The new book has newly designed maps, photos and is cleaned up from the first edition. I added in about 20 new summits, too. I didn't drop any from the first edition, but added some much more interesting routes such as the Carbonate - Tabeguache circuit and Big, Little and Medium Agnes. Really glad you liked it! And just one other piece of news, I will be putting lots of new free hikes of other peaks on my website throughout the fall. I'm working on peaks that don't have much publicity elsewhere, not to mention dog friendly routes, big ridgewalks and traverses and my favorite, lesser known summits (like Mt. George in the Indian Peaks via the Triangle Glacier).
