Growing Winter Coats

Post by d_baker »

Does anyone else grow a winter coat each season? Mine from last year, in frosty form:

This is mostly a post in support of those of us that grow beards, for instance the Boston Red Sox. ;)

Growing beards in November is so mainstream. I'm going to shave every day in November just to be different.

Last shave for the year was the day before the equinox. It usually comes off ~6 months later but I might keep it a bit longer this year.

working at home has its advantages, as in not having to look "professional" in an office setting. Shaving usually happens when I start to get annoyed at how long it gets :)

I usually shave the goatee off at the end of September and start growing the beard around October 1. I keep it for about 6 or 7 months and then go back to the goatee. (My wife doesn't like me sans facial hair...)

My face is way too beautiful to be covered with hair.

More and more, this includes the top of my head too.

I normally trim mine every other week or so, but on occasion I let it go for a month. Any longer than that and the manliness becomes overpowering. Winter is a great time for lazy shaving habits because there's nothing more guaranteed to attract women than a snot-stache.
“There are two kinds of climbers: those who climb because their heart sings when they’re in the mountains, and all the rest.” - Alex Lowe

"There have been joys too great to describe in words, and there have been griefs upon which I cannot dare to dwell; and with those in mind I say, 'Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end.'" - Edward Whymper

Fun Fact:
When passing another climber on the trail the man with the lesser beard must always yield right-of-way to the man with the more impressive beardaclava
To climb is to push yourself in a way you might not normally imagine is possible. If your stamina, skill, and luck are sound you will get to stand on top. ... I realized that with climbing, I'd found something that nourished my soul and could forge me into a better version myself - Jim Davidson

You look about as bad as Mike Napoli in that pic (disclaimer: I'm a Cardinal fan).
