I was wondering if there can be a way to check on trip reports that I have voted on or left a comment on....kind of like how you can view your forum posts, except on trip reports.
Guess what? I've got a fever, and the only prescription, is MORE COWBELL!!!

Harry Truman elaborated on the decision firing Gen. MacArthur for publicly disagreeing with his policy against expanding the Korean War into China.

"I fired him because he wouldn't respect the authority of the president. I didn't fire him because he was a dumb son-of-a-bitch, although he was, but that's not against the law for generals. If it was, half to three-quarters of them would be in jail."

It's on the enhancement list (see first post of this thread). For now, you could try using a combination of the "Peak" and "Search for Text" at the top of the main Trip Reports page. If someone entered southwest in the report, you could pick that up in a text search for La Plata.

You can do this by clicking the users name in the "User" column on the main trip reports page,

That was too easy!

Thanks

I would like to suggest adding a link to the Colorado Snotel site to the links page. This site has lots of good info about
recent weather and snow conditions all around the state.

I would like to be able to bookmark a particular Forum thread. Often times I read some really good stuff that I know in the future I would like to be able refer back to. Unfortunately finding the particular Forum topic isn't always easy.

What about using your Browser's Favorites/Bookmark functionality for this? In IE, I just create a group of shortcuts for similar site links (like various forum links on 14ers.com Then you can just drag-n-drop the url from the top of your browser to the favorites group.

What g is referring to is the forum "Bookmarks" functionality. If you bookmark threads, you can then view them in "Manage Bookmarks" in your "User Control Panel."

I don't use it much because I use simple browser favorites, but it might be what you're looking for. I prefer browser favorites because I don't have to enter the forum to find the links.

on the homepage it would be nice if the "Recent Forum Topics" box extended farther down the page to show a greater number of recent topics. very minor, but occasionally there has been a topic that i kind of wanted to look back to and it was gone and i did not know how to find it.

How about a "No Politics" policy. Too many good threads are getting ruined by political zingers. Mods delete all political posts... repeat offenders get banded. This policy has worked well in other online communities.

Also, a 13er check list with little boxes to click off would be good. As the number of finishers increases, folks move onto 13ers and this would be a good way to keep the site relevant.

Thanks.

Hey Robby,
This is actually something you can change yourself. On the homepage, if you scroll down to the bottom you'll see "display settings". Click on that and where it says "forum threads on home page" select your preference there. I believe you can have it display up to 60 threads.

Bill - might want to bookmark this page so that when it takes effect, you can get things updated on the site. Looks like the new format will require some tweaks to make sure it still pulls the SPOT coordinates from the emails: http://faq.findmespot.com/index.php?action=showEntry&data=1076

Posted this back in August. I believe this change has now taken effect. I know my SPOT location does not appear to be updating anymore... last location listed for me is South Colony Lake - and I haven't been there since the first week in September. I've done 5 or so climbs since then, and they aren't updating. The email address is still in the SPOT page, and my ESN is still in my profile, so I'm guessing it might be this email formatting change.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. --Proverbs 3:5-6
