Google Earth Master File

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Tue Dec 27, 2011 2:08 pm

Happy Holidays!

I just added a consolidated Google Earth (.KMZ) file which contains the following:
  • 14ers: When you click on a 14er, click the photo link to view the 14ers.com peak page.
  • 14er Trailheads: No TH page links, yet.
  • 14er Route overlays with 3D tours: When you click on a route, the pop-up will display 14ers.com route stats with links to the trailhead page and full route description. Also, look for the 3D route tour within each route.
  • 13ers: Waypoints for all 13ers. Sorry, no 13ers.com links, yet.

You'll need to be logged in to download the file. If you don't have an account, you can register via the Forum (Board) Index above. When I get a chance, I'll get this link out on the site menu and other pages.

A magnificent addition to the website, Bill! =D> You just keep making things better and better. Thanks for all you do for all of us, and Happy New Year to you and the family.

What a nice Christmas present! Thanks. Now, can you do something about the snow, before I get there in January?
It looks like the ridge is just right up there!

That is very cool.
Do you want to get knitpicky perfect about it?
For example, the photo click from the top of Daly shows the view from the Daly saddle, and the photo at K2 Summit shows the view from Daly summit.
And the usual stuff, like the Lead King Basin trailhead status says "Good clearance is also recommended."
You might want to use the words "highly" or "required for most drivers" or something like that.

I didn't add any photos in the file so the Daly shot is probably a public pic. Those can be turned off by de-selecting overlay options in google earth.

I'll update the lead king info. Thanks!

That is incredible! Great job.

Are all the routes suppose to meet up with the TH? For example Castle Creek TH and Castle & Conundrum... Huron Peak and Clear Creek. I'm not familiar with those two so maybe there's a reason they don't meet. Maybe you can drive higher than the TH?

I've already spent hours playing with this thing. Well done!

I wished to find a warrant for being. I need no warrant for being, and no word of sanction upon my being. I am the warrant and the sanction. Neither am I the means to any end others may wish to accomplish. I am not a tool for their use. I am not a servant of their needs. I am not a sacrifice on their altars.” |Ayn Rand - Anthem

That's usually when there's a higher, 4WD trailhead and I started the route tracking at that point.

I'll probably add the 4WD parking waypoints soon

The "DOWNLOAD AGREEMENT" page that pops up does not allow Netbook users to click "Agree" The agree button is too low and you can't move the agreement box up on the page in order to see it. Any advice people?
