Hey Bill,

That USGS quad feature is very cool.

Maybe its common knowlege, but at http://store.usgs.gov you can download PDF versions of quad (and other) USGS maps for free.

The feature is slightly hidden, b/c they mainly seem to be oriented towards selling paper maps, but if you just click on the desired "product" the PDF will download. They have a (free) app for windows to view extra "GeoPDF" features, or you can just use any old pdf viewer. Takes a while to load due to the amount of detail.

If somebody had too much time on their hands, maybe the little USGS quad popup in the Google maps app could have a download link.....

I'd like to include those USGS links in the 14ers map info windows, but I don't have a key in my quad map file which corresponds to the product on the USGS site.
I have a couple of other ideas which might be pretty cool. More to come...

When using the Quad Maps overlay, you can now click on a quad to view PDF versions of the maps. I'm working on adding more PDFs but if you click on a quad which contains a 14er, the map will be there.

I hope this helps!

I added US Forest Boundaries and Wilderness areas to the map page.

New check boxes are above the map:

And this is what you get:

Oh, and I added a couple more base topo layers in the white, drop-down box on the upper right of the Google Map.

To maximize space on the map page, I've moved the map overlays into a drop-down box which is located on the upper right of the map. This should be an improvement for those with a lower screen resolution:

Flippin sweet Bill! You're doing a great job. This newb relies on info posted here on 14ers.com. So thank you very much.

What would make it sweeter? inclusion of Colorado Brewery/brew pubs on the map as well. But that's just me.

Totally!!! Now if only we could just get Bill over his Rush obsession and get him to enjoy real bands like the Rolling Stones. :-D

With how close to absolute perfection this site is, Ryan, don't take away the one remaining thing we have to give him s**t for...

And, really, Ryan... that image is just uncalled for.

Bill, is there any chance you could tag a Centennials option for the map?

Sarcasm or not, it's not even funny to post something like this. Not at this time. Reported.

I will not degrade this thread with any talk about the Rolling Stone-agers. :-"

More additions to the map page - we now have Slope Angle Shading and 40-foot Contour line layers. A special thanks to Matt at CalTopo.com for providing such great data!

The 40-foot contour lines can be very helpful when viewing a Satellite map:
