Bill, is the pano the default if I'm not logged in to the site?
The other day I didn't have to be logged in order for the homepage to have the map image.

Yes, the pano is defaulted for those not logged in because there's a limit on how many monthly views Google allows on the maps api key. So, we can't afford to waste them on bots and other visitors who may not care to see the maps anyway.

I just added another topographical map option to the Google Map dropdown (top-right on map). It's labeled as "USA Topo" and contains topographical maps provided by ArcGIS.

After a couple hours of head-banging and research, I have the home page set to remember your previous map type (and coordinates!) when you return to the 14ers.com home page.

The map type is in the map drop-down box on the upper right:

Added "14er Routes" as a layer option on the homepage Google Map.

Does anyone else miss having just 14er pic's? I used to randomly visit the site just take in a photograph of a random 14er. The 360 panorama (and now google maps) are cool, but don't inspire me.

Aren't the panos just like random 14er pics? :P

You win!

I just added "14er Photos" to the main graphic option on Display Settings.

...and included the "route milestones" found in the route descriptions. They are shown as Image markers when you include the "14er Routes" layer.

Yup, I ditched it, for now. That simple map is pretty old and I'd like to spruce it up a bit and integrate it with the 14er checklist before bringing it back. Sorry
