I am unable to walk away from the mountain without climbing it. An unclimbed mountain tugs at my consciousness with the eternal weight of time itself. Until I've pressed my face into it's alpine winds, hugged it's ancient granite walls, and put it's weathered summit beneath my heal I'm unable to resist it's attraction.Knowing nature gives the mountain more time than she gives us adds urgency to the obsession. As has been said before; the mountain doesn't care.

It can wait forever. I cannot.

Just finished looking at this entire topic. There are some really amazing photos. Here's mine (not a show stopper). While getting off route for a brief moment after the catwalk on Eolus, we were starting to loose hope with the weather. I was with Bryan (tmasbc) who was trying to finish his list on Eolus. After discovering we made a simple (stupid) mistake by not staying left after the catwalk, we started to head back. As we did, the fog started to lift momentarily and there was our Goat friend directing us to the route proper.

If you haven't seen them already, a large herd of Bighorn Sheep are often on or near the trail in Waterton Canyon. We photographed these guys this week (there were nearly 20 Rams!) just above Strontia Springs Reservoir, at the start of the Colorado Trail. They actually closed in on us and encircled us, some only an arm's length away, to graze.
