Re: board
Probably one of those situations were you 'had to be there' I guess. Obviously it was stashed...but to be P-U when? Which brings me to the question. What do other people do for stashing? Personally I have not had to do this outside of leaving gear at my tent site or truck camping. If I did I think I'd leave a note (or am I setting myself up). If I worried about forgetting where I left it (large boulder field) I'd put surveyor's flagging tied to a small rock and put that on top of the boulder it was next to. Maybe even write my note on the flagging. I guess that brings me to a second question. Has anyone had anything out-right stolen from them hiking around the sticks?

If you're not moshing, it's NOT music.

Re: board
If you have a GPS, just create a waypoint at your stash point. I do this all the time.. Then I can kinda hide it and not worry about someone stealing it too
"Tense situations, kid. You get into five or six of 'em a day, it don't mean s**t anymore. I mean, I've seen men stabbed, didn't mean s**t to me. I've seen guns, guns too, they don't mean s**t. But that's when you gotta watch yourself. "

Re: board
Could you please tell me the CO Sheriffs office where you dropped off these items? And the person you spoke to?
I'd like to follow up on with them.
Thanks

Dude its common for people to stash their skis, snow shoes or other gear along the trail and pick it up on the way down. Unless it's obviously trashed like it's been there for a long time leave it be.
There is no trail and I was the only one going up and down the ridge that day.
so you assumed you were the only person out there just because you didn't see anybody on the ridge? Also you had no idea of the other party's plans. When in doubt don't touch other peoples stuff, especially if it looks new and not trashed from weather, ect. I imagine there is probably some pissed off guy out there looking for his board
Rather poor place to stash it in plain view especially for people that don't know any better.http://www.resortbeta.com - An interactive ski/snowboard experience for all your favorite ski resorts.

+1 for leave it be.
When we did holy cross as a bike and ski, we stashed our bikes off the side of the road then did the climb and ski of holy cross. If our bikes were taken to the sheriff's office by someone and not there when we got back I would have gone blind rhino.

Re: board
Lets not all jump down this guys throat. Likley someone stashed it, weather turned and they were not able to make it back to get thier stuff. Maybe that person went back and is pissed off somewhere, but more than likley, he works and couldent go back up that day or the next and would have to wait unitl the following weekened to get his stuff, if he even decided to go back and get it. I agree discretion must be used when carrying out stashed gear, but courtesy of retreiving gear forgotten/ left is something generous and tiresome.
What do you all think is the right thing? Whats your time table for picking up stuff that you see or stashed gear?

Sorry, I should have updated - I left my number if the owner wanted to contact me. He did this week.
Joe picked up his board I will not list his full name/username. He forgot where he put his board a couple of days before I was up there. All is good.

yea taking your only quick transportation back out after a long day when you're exhausted could quickly turn into an epic. Glad it had a good outcome at least.

So which Sheriffs office did you use?
Seriously, post it, please.
