Instagram

Post by dubsho3000 »

Someone recently wrote that instagram is the devil. Well, let me play devil's advocate.

Is anyone on instagram that wouldn't mind a fellow 14erer following him/her? I love the app, and I'm sure some of y'all have some superb photos of 14ers and other mountainy things.

I am, surprise surprise, dubsho3000 on the site. However, my photos are primarily of my dog and food. Haven't gotten to the mountains enough lately.

I am not on the app, but I have heard that any photos uploaded to Instagram immediately become their property, and they can and will sell off your images. May want to read the fine print before using Instagram.

Full disclaimer: I have not found this information myself, I was told second hand. Do your own research.
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

There was a lot of talk last week about Instagram owning and wanting to sell its users' photos based on a change they made to their terms of service and privacy policy. However, this wasn't true, and, due to the (unfounded) backlash, they reverted back to their original terms of service. Here's a blog post by the co-founder explaining it all:

But, back to dubsho3000's original post. I use Instagram pretty frequently and would love to be followed/follow other mountain-interested folks. My username is: nicholasblee

Cool - thanks for the tip.

I was a little unnerved by the report of instagram taking ownership of users' pictures, but was relieved that it was not true.

I love instagram, it lets me show my friends and family what I'm up to or what I'm seeing when they are not lucky enough to be there. It also beats Facebook cause you don't have to read what people have to say, which most of the time is lame. oh and yeah skiing pics are definitely double cool points on there. I think they even calculate with epic mix at the end of the year to give you a nar nar rating of just exactly how totally awesome of a skier you are, and bra the biddies crawl all over that s**t!
